Deploying a New Data Center Location with Cisco Nexus Switches for a Leader in Sports Entertainment

Case Study Glance Shape

At a glance

The client had a large network with multiple data centers. They were looking to deploy a new data center location with Cisco Nexus switches, leveraging the ease of automation and orchestration for Day-0 configuration of the devices. For Day-2 operations, they wanted deeper visibility into traffic flow and enhanced troubleshooting capacity by using switch telemetry, machine learning, and artificial intelligence capabilities offered through the NDI application.

About the client

The client is a leading sports entertainment media company in the U.S., with around 800 employees and a yearly revenue of over $1 billion USD.

Challenges

The client wanted to utilize network orchestration to provision and deploy a new greenfield data center and manage an existing brownfield fabric. Gruve’s project helped them gain deeper visibility and actionable insights into traffic flows, configuration issues, bug and PSIRT notifications for proactive monitoring, and maintenance of the DC switching fabrics.

Solutions

  • Initial workshop conducted for the partner to explain the roadmap of ND solution.
  • Prerequisites shared with customer before the implementation.
  • Requirement gathering session followed by implementation of the Nexus Dashboard appliances and initial cluster stand-up.
  • Deployment of the NDFC/NDI applications to manage the OOB and Prod switching fabrics.
  • Optimization of the platform for Day-2 Operations.
  • Follow-up knowledge transfer and mentoring sessions.

Results and benefits

With Gruve, the process of provisioning and deploying the initial fabrics was simple, quick, and easy. In addition, the client successfully received switch telemetry into the Insights tool to provide visibility and troubleshooting assistance for Day-2 Operations.
